anyone have a premiere filter that can...

happy new yr everyone!,

Does anyone have a filter for Adobe Premiere (or know where i can get 1) that can put a blur on only some of the frame-for exapmle...makes half of the picture look out of focus while the other half staying sharp...know what I mean?. Cheers.

Hi Jim

I dont know about a filter, but here is a way you could do it I think.

copy the same clip on to two video tracks, one above the other.
On the lower video track you could apply the blur, or camera blur filter which will blur the whole picture as much or as little as you want.

Then right click on the above clip (which is the same clip but not blurred) and apply transparency.
In the top right hand corner of the transparency dialog you can clip out which areas you want to show from the 'view'.

So for example to blur out the bottom half of the screen you would select the bottom left hand corner and drag it up to the middle left hand side, and select the bottom right hand corner, drag it up to the middle of the right hand side.

If you do it right then the top video track will only show in the top half of the screen, letting the blurred bottom track show through the bottom half.
